Welcome, The coins and artefacts illustrated here were rescued from pasture and ploughland in the county of Yorkshire, with the aid of a metal detector. The word 'rescued' sounds dramatic, but chemicals, which play such an important role in agricuture, accelerate the corrosion of metalwork. Along with the potential for plough damage, it is likely that these objects would be in worse condition - had they remained in the ground. |
